On Monday, the Lord Lieutenant of South Yorkshire, His Majesty The King's Personal Representative, visited our Kelham Island office to officially present us with our Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.

We were announced as a Queen’s Award winner back in April, as a recognition of our impressive growth overseas in the last three years, particularly in the United States of America.

It was an honour for us to be visited by Professor Dame Hilary Chapman DBE, who’s duties as Lord Lieutenant see her act as the Monarch’s representative for the county, connecting him to the work of the community, and recognising achievements across South Yorkshire.

On her arrival the Lord Lieutenant was met by our CEO, Gary Hargraves, and COO, Jonny Turner. She was then introduced to the rest of the Sport:80 team, and given a demonstration of our Platform in action.

Both Dame Hilary and Gary made short speeches recognising the phenomenal efforts by the Sport:80 team, which have made the company what it is today. Phil Barraclough, the Lieutenancy Officer, read out the ‘Grant of Appointment’, confirming our status as Queen’s Award holders, and allowing us to officially 'fly the flag' for the next five years.

Afterwards, the Sport:80 team headed to Grade II listed Ball Street Bridge, which sits at the heart of Kelham Island, Sheffield, to take photos celebrating the achievement.

It was an incredible day for us, and a landmark moment in the history of the company.
