It was a little over a year ago when we began working on a project for the Netball World Cup 2019 that would showcase the use of technology at a major international sporting event. We’re now able to tell you a little more about this fantastic project…
“One of our goals with the Netball World Cup 2019 was to utilise technology in a way that major international sporting events hadn’t before. Sport:80 brought our ideas to life with their innovative registration, accreditation and team app solutions… Sport:80’s expertise and support throughout was invaluable; they were on-hand whenever we needed them, and they went above and beyond to ensure these elements of the event were a success.”
- Ian Holloway, Head of Sport Competition
As organisers of sporting events in a past life, we know just how complex the planning and delivery of a major sporting event can be, and the valuable role technology can play. For this project we developed a trio of technology solutions for team registration, accreditation production and a mobile app for team communication. Each solution would go on to play its own very important role back the scenes of one of the UK’s biggest sporting events this year.
Catching up with Ian Holloway, Head of Sport Competition at the Netball World Cup 2019, he explained the impact that Sport:80 technology had in the running of the event:
“The registration system allowed us to aggregate and manage data which was vital in the planning of the event; the accreditation software streamlined the production of accreditation passes by utilising registration data; and the app allowed us to replace traditional methods of communication with an app solution which enabled updates to be instantly sent to team officials and staff with the click of a button.”
The accreditation and mobile app solutions were a first for Sport:80 but what you might not know if that this isn’t the first time our registration system has been used for sporting event. More than 2000 events have used it over the past few years.
