So this just happened…

Last night, four months of hard work culminated in the grand final of Northern Stars. The competition was devised by Tech North, the tougher, better looking and friendlier sibling of Tech City UK. Sorry southern softies, but it’s true!

Hundreds of applicants entered the competition and we were named as one of 20 companies considered as the North’s most exciting tech start-ups. As a finalist we had a tough job on our hands with just 3 minutes to impress a judge’s panel that included Suzanne Ashman of LocalGlobe, James Foster of ADV, Sarah Turner of Angel Academe and investor supremo, Keith Wallington.

With companies stepping up to the plate in alphabetical order to deliver their pitch, we were treated to a variety of really impressive presentations from our fellow competitors. As much as we were relishing the opportunity to show what we are made of, we were very grateful for the opportunity to experience what our fellow finalists had to offer.

Then it was our turn.

Our Head of Operations, Jonny Turner strode in to Manchester’s 400-seater Stoller Hall and delivered the pitch of his life! Leaving the stage to applause, we had to wait nervously for the final few pitches to be completed before hearing the final verdict.

Needless to say it went down well and we were crowned with a Northern Stars award. It was also great to see our fellow Sheffielder’s, Tutora scoop up an award. We are very proud to fly the flag for tech businesses in the Steel City.

All in all, we feel very lucky to be a part of Northern Stars, never mind one of the winners. Being part of this flourishing tech community is something we will cherish greatly, and we can’t wait for what is next to come.

Thank you Tech North for a fantastic evening.
